From one of the first companies to implement the Core i7 technology from Intel, the Asus M60J is fortunate enough to have been endowed with such a powerful unit to marshal its operations. Let us see what the Asus M60J has in store for us.

 

First and foremost, the features of the Asus M60J are intended for people who are into multimedia. This means that the M60J was designed for heavy graphics as well as heavy multimedia applications that eat up a lot of memory and require a very powerful processor to pull off. High-definition media need a lot of VRAM and processing muscle in order to bring their detailed graphics and clear video out.

 

In short, it is a portable multimedia machine that the multimedia user can bring along for entertainment while on a long trip.

 

The Asus M60J answers all those concerns with the Intel Core i7 processor. You can pick the 820QM, or the 720QM processors, which run at 1.73GHz and 1.6GHz respectively. This powerful processor is backed up by a memory capacity of up to 4 gigabytes. HD multimedia viewing will be very smooth and enjoyable with such a combo. In order to ensure true HD graphics, the Asus M60J is equipped with an Nvidia GeForce GT240M graphics card with a video memory of 1 gigabyte. All of this makes the M60J a giant among the multimedia laptop niche.

 

With its excellent high definition support, the downloader would most certainly be enticed to grab many of his favorite movies. Unfortunately, the HD movies are very large and the user would soon find that he has not enough space for his files. With the Asus M60J, this irritating situation can be avoided. Asus has thought of that and gave the Asus M60J the ability to accommodate two hard drives. This means that the Asus M60J can accommodate up to 1 terabyte of files, and at least 500GB. Individual hard drive choices are 500, 320 and 250 gigabytes.

Pros 

The Asus M60J is very powerful after being equipped with the Core i7 processor and with its fat RAM space of 4 gigabytes. It also wows us with its impressive display, large storage space and the option to upgrade to a Blu-Ray drive. Add to that is the excellent Altec Lansing speakers in its chassis.

 

Cons

Despite its powerful features, there is still one thing that the Asus M60J is weak in, and that is its battery life.  The Core i7 processor just uses up too much power from the battery. If you take the M60J off the power supply, you’d be disappointed as you can only use it for about 2 hours. You won’t be able to use it to even watch a lengthy movie.

 

Conclusion 

If you are willing to overlook the short battery life, you will find that the Asus M60J is a very good laptop with excellent multimedia features. You can even use it for gaming with its 1GB video card.
