The market for gaming notebooks is currently on the rise. It comes as no surprise that the Asus G51VX-A1 15.6-inch gaming notebook, with its 4GB of RAM and Intel Q9000 quad core laptop processor, is fast becoming a favorite.

The Asus G51VX-A1 though is not handy or even light. It measures 14.6 x 10.3 x 1.3-1.6-inches package and weighs about 7.26 lbs. or about 3 kg.
The Asus G51VX-A1 does not deny the fact that it is a gamer’s laptop. Its graphic that covers the lid clearly shouts gamers. Also, there is a “Republic of Gamers” logo in the center.
Unlike other notebooks, it has a full sized keyboard with separate section for number pad. There are metal buttons on the trackpad and there are also rubber palmrests.
The Asus G51VX-A1 has a wireless bgn capability as well as multiple card reader and Bluetooth. It has 640GB of available hard disk space and a DVD Super Multi drive. Exterior ports of the Asus G51VX-A1 include, among others: USB (4), HDMI, FireWire, VGA, Ethernet, eSATA and an ExpressCard.
The 15.6 inch display comes not only with a 1920×1080 resolution but also with a 16:9 aspect-ratio. This is more than what most gamers need.
The device already contains preloaded Asus’ proprietary software like Data Security manager, Winflash, Splendid Utility and Smart Logon Manager among others.
The the G51VX can handle normal, day-to-day computing with ease. Some gamers may think that its GeForce GTX 260M is not as powerful as the dual 280M graphic chips but it gets the job done.
Its average battery life is estimated at 2 and a half hours but heavy gaming can cut that time down to 90 minutes.

What is good about the Asus G51VX-A1 is that you get value for your money. Namely the great gaming features, its 1GB of VRAM and overall build quality.
CONS
Considering that Asus is known for enduring batteries, its short battery life comes as a bit of a disappointment. Long gaming also results in the fan being nosiy.
CONCLUSION
Considering its relatively low price, the Asus G51VX-A1 not only meets the minimum standards for a gaming laptop, it offers more value for your money. So if that’s what you’re looking for, why not try it?
