From one of the first companies to implement the Core i7 technology from Intel, the Asus M60J is fortunate enough to have been endowed with such a powerful unit to marshal its operations. Let us see what the Asus M60J has in store for us.

First and foremost, the features of the Asus M60J are intended for people who are into multimedia. This means that the M60J was designed for heavy graphics as well as heavy multimedia applications that eat up a lot of memory and require a very powerful processor to pull off. High-definition media need a lot of VRAM and processing muscle in order to bring their detailed graphics and clear video out.

In short, it is a portable multimedia machine that the multimedia user can bring along for entertainment while on a long trip.

The Asus M60J answers all those concerns with the Intel Core i7 processor. You can pick the 820QM, or the 720QM processors, which run at 1.73GHz and 1.6GHz respectively. This powerful processor is backed up by a memory capacity of up to 4 gigabytes. HD multimedia viewing will be very smooth and enjoyable with such a combo. In order to ensure true HD graphics, the Asus M60J is equipped with an Nvidia GeForce GT240M graphics card with a video memory of 1 gigabyte. All of this makes the M60J a giant among the multimedia laptop niche.

Asus_K50IJ_RX05

One of Asus’ laptops in the entry-level category (below $500) is the Asus K50IJ-RX05. Priced at just around $420, one may suspect that the 15-incher Asus K50IJ-RX05 could not live up to the expectations of an entry-level laptop user.

To allay those suspicions, let us take a quick look at the Asus K50IJ-RX05.  We will examine if its specs and configurations would satisfy an average computer user.

The Asus K50IJ-RX05 is powered by Intel’s older dual core processors, the Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4200.  This processor, although, older is not obsolete at the least.  It could still perform at par with other entry-level processors, due to the 3 GB of read access memory. The Asus K50IJ-RX05 is also beefed up with an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 graphic chipset.  With these combos, the Asus K50IJ-RX05 could outperform other thinking machines at its price category.

ASUS_UX50V

The UX50V is the more muscular sibling in Asus UX Laptops series, compared to the Asus UX30.  It promises better performance than its little brother, but still comes in a slim package.

The UX50V is a 15.6-inch computing machine, compared to the UX-30’s 13-inch screen.  The Asus UX50V laptop comes with a native resolution of 1366×768, which allows HD output to be played with greater detail and clarity than when viewed in lesser resolution screen.  This resolution is also good for graphics editing and viewing, which usually requires high-resolution screens.  Games also look good when played at this resolution.

The main difference between the UX brothers is the graphics support.  The UX30 is supported by an integrated Intel Graphics Accelerator, which doesn’t allow memory-hungry games and graphic applications to be run.  The UX50V, however, is supported by 512 MB of NVIDIA GeForce G105M graphics card, which permits detailed games and graphic programs.

ASUS EEE PC 701 – Netbook Review

Posted on December 18th, 2009 | by admin

Asus-Eee-PC-701

Introduced some years ago, the Asus Eee PC 701 still has that selling power even today. The Asus Eee PC 701, as one of the Top 5 Netbooks of 2009, uses a 900-MHz Intel Celeron Processor, which is not bad by itself. Some people may say that it’s not enough but it actually starts your applications quickly. You may have trouble using it since it uses Asus Xandros, which is a Linux OS. While it does have a RAM of 512, sadly, its hard drive only carries 4 GB.

The Asus Eee PC 701 is also smaller compared to its 14” LCD counterparts since it only has a 7” screen. Quite small indeed. Bear in mind that this laptop was designed for people who like to travel or who are always on the move. People on the go like to use laptops for checking mails or accomplishing certain office tasks. This laptop is not intended for long usage given its small screen size. Further, because of its size, people won’t even know that you are carrying it. That is a good safety feature if you think about it.

Asus Eee PC 701 also offers users a very easy to understand, friendly, and tab-based interface. All you need to do is memorize these six choices. Internet, Work, Learn, Play, Settings and Favorites. As I said, very easy.

ASUS EEE PC 901 – Netbook Review

asus-eee-pc901-netbook-review

The Asus EEE PC 901 ranked fifth on our list of Top 5 Netbooks for 2009. Although small, the Asus Eee PC 901 has an 8.9” display that carries a resolution of 1024 x 600. It is powered by a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor and also uses 1 GB of RAM (DDR2). It has wi-fi capability through its 802.11n Wi-Fi and even has a Bluetooth. Unlike other small sized laptops in the market, it has 3 USB ports. Now add an integrated Ethernet, stereo speakers and a webcam. It is no wonder then that the Asus EEE PC 901 was included in the Top 5 Netbooks of 2009.

The long battery life is just one of its many features. Its processor and graphics card allows users to experience good and fast performance. The 802.11n Wi-Fi and mouse with gesture-compatible controls adds to the wonderful experience. With such features, it makes you wonder if the Asus EEE PC 901 is indeed a budget notebook.

According to the company, the idea behind the Asus EEE PC 901 was to make a laptop that was an improvement to the Asus EEE PC 900. By simply looking at the design, you immediately get a feel that it is an improvement. The laptop itself has been redesigned with a glossy lid replacing the matte coat. The hinge was even changed and it now has a circular and silver feel to it.

Asus UX30 – Laptop Review

Posted on December 16th, 2009 | by admin

asus ux30

Asus is known to have started the boom of mini-laptops as its Eee PC series remains a hot seller.  Due to its success, Asus designed a new set of ultra-slim netbooks with fat specifications — the UX Asus UX Laptops series.

The Asus UX30 is a notebook in the UX series, having a very lean thickness of only 0.9 inches – one of the thinnest the laptop industry has seen.  This laptop is ideal for people who travel a lot – it is as light as it is slim.

The UX30’s slim design is especially thanks to Intel’s Consumer Ultra Low Voltage processors.  Intel’s CUVL processors requires lesser power to run, thus lesser heat is produced while in operation.  This feature allowed Asus to design a slimmer box for the UX series due to cooler processors.
